Rondo is a mail app for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Here's how to get set up, and what to do when something isn't working. Can't find your answer? Email svkfoundry@gmail.com — a person reads every message.

Getting Rondo

Rondo is in private beta. Join the waitlist and we'll send you a TestFlight invitation. Install Apple's free TestFlight app, open the invitation on your iPhone, iPad or Mac, and tap Install. New versions arrive in TestFlight on their own.

Adding your accounts

Open Rondo and choose your provider, or go to Settings → Accounts → Add account.

  • Gmail and Google Workspace: sign in with Google in the window that opens and allow access.
  • Outlook.com and Microsoft 365: sign in with Microsoft and accept the permissions.
  • iCloud Mail: Apple needs an app-specific password. Create one at account.apple.com → Sign-In and Security → App-Specific Passwords, then paste it into Rondo.
  • Yahoo, AOL and Zoho: turn on third-party app access in your account's security settings and create an app password, then use it in Rondo.
  • Fastmail: choose JMAP and paste an API token (Fastmail → Settings → Privacy & Security → API tokens), or use IMAP with an app password.
  • Any other provider: choose Other and enter your IMAP and SMTP server details. Your provider's help pages list them.

"Google hasn't verified this app." While Rondo is in beta, Google lets only invited testers sign in. If you see this, email us the Gmail address you want to use and we'll add it.

AI features

Rondo can summarize conversations, suggest and write replies, prepare replies in your own writing voice, build your Today page, label new mail, tidy your inbox, and answer questions about your mail with sources.

  • On your device: on devices with Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro or later, and iPad and Mac with Apple silicon), many features work with no setup, and your mail stays on the device.
  • With your own AI provider: go to Settings → AI, choose a provider (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, an OpenAI-compatible service, or a model on your own computer), and paste your API key. Settings → AI also shows, feature by feature, where each one runs, and lets you change it.
  • Writing voice: in Settings → AI → Your writing voice, choose Learn from your sent mail so drafts sound like you. Add Personal instructions there too, such as how you sign off.
  • Prepared replies (Prepare replies in advance) are off until you turn them on. Then Rondo drafts a reply for emails that need one, and it waits in the conversation until you send, edit or discard it. Rondo never sends anything on its own.

Assistants, Siri and Shortcuts

  • Connect an AI assistant (Mac): Settings → Agents → turn on Let assistants on this Mac use Rondo, then copy the address and token into your assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex or any MCP app). Choose what each account allows: nothing, read, triage or send. Sending always asks you first.
  • Siri and Shortcuts: ask Siri what's new in Rondo, or use Rondo's actions in the Shortcuts app.

Coming from Notion Mail

Settings → Snippets (or Labels) → Import from Notion Mail brings in your snippets and your AI label rules from an export file or pasted text.

Keyboard shortcuts

On a Mac or an iPad with a keyboard, press ? to see every shortcut, or ⌘K for the command palette. Rondo uses Gmail-style keys: j/k to move, e to archive, r to reply, c to compose and / to search.

Troubleshooting

  • Mail isn't updating. Pull down on the list (iPhone and iPad) or press ⌃R (Mac). If an account shows a sign-in problem, remove it and add it again.
  • A "Rondo wants to use your confidential information" password prompt on the Mac. This came from older beta builds. Update to the latest build in TestFlight, click Always Allow once for each prompt, and it won't come back.
  • An AI feature says it isn't set up. Add a key in Settings → AI, or switch the feature to On this device if yours supports Apple Intelligence.
  • Sending failed. The draft reopens with the reason at the top. Check your connection and try again; scheduled emails wait in Outbox.

Your data

  • Rondo keeps your mail on your device and has no servers of its own. The privacy policy explains exactly what goes where.
  • Remove an account: Settings → Accounts → the account → Remove. Its mail, search index and sign-in are deleted from the device.
  • Stop Rondo's access completely: remove the account in Rondo, then revoke access at myaccount.google.com/permissions (Google) or account.live.com/consent/Manage (Microsoft).
  • Delete everything: delete Rondo from your device.
